Instructions for the Journey Log
Your Journey Log is a weekly reflection on your time with the readings, quests, adventures, raids, and sessions in class. This is your way to reflect on your learning and adventure through composition. There are a few criteria you must follow, but what you write about is mostly up to the player. These should be SUBSTANTIAL and not a simple one paragraph response. Players are assessed on the following criteria:
Each week you should reflect on your time with the readings, quests, adventures, raids, and sessions in class. While doing so, your focus should be at least one of the habits of mind (detailed during the second lecture of the class and on the syllabus), rotating through all eight before repeating. Engage with ideas of failure, kairos, metanoia, and technology as well to engage in a deep reflection of self. Your specialization will alter the way in which you engage in the reflection by giving extra criteria, dictate what mode to use, or ask you to use visuals to supplement words. The specializations are as follows:
All Journey Log entries should be created using Adobe Spark as a page unless otherwise noted. All finished projects should be shared in the appropriate folder on Google Doc (All journey logs should be in one document). If the entry is a video, please embed on the course Behance page.
All Journal logs should have the following information at the top of each Spark Page:
Player Name - Avatar Name
Section Number
Journey Log #

Habits of Mind being used
Remember, this should be fun and meaningful to you.

The specializations are as follows:
- Warrior: for all reflections, you must use at least two habits of mind and write at least 600 words.
- Ranger: Research two concepts from class or readings and gather at least two sources for these concepts and explain why you chose these and how you found them. Reflect on the research process as well as the deeper meaning of the concepts. Make sure to cite all sources.
- Mage: Create a 60 - 120 second video using voice, images, and text. You may use Adobe Spark or Adobe Premiere Pro. A paragraph should accompany the video on the process of making the video.
- Bard: Draw, paint, or otherwise create something that represents this week's reflection. This could also be a video of process or documentation of a raid or adventure. A short story or poem could also represent your reflection. A paragraph should accompany the composed piece on the process and rationale.
- Builder: Create a structure or series of structures to work through at least one concept in class in Minecraft Education. You should use signs and boards to help the reader walk through this creation. You should upload both the file for the world as well as a "video" (could be a slideshow) that both walks through and explains the created structure(s).

Final Journey Log Reflection
Now that you have reflected on the coursework, your raids, and the experience of the semester, it is time to reread all of your reflections and see how you have changed as a thinker, writer, and innovator. Please reflect on the following:
You are not required to do a specialization. However, you should still do this as an Adobe Spark Page with images. You can/should even link certain aspects to previous Spark Pages (hyperlink words). If you do a specialization, you will earn extra credit.
This should be the equivalent of about 2 pages of text, but please do not use large paragraphs of text. Break them up with images, page breaks, etc.
- Reflect on the four most important Habits of Mind:
- Why are they important? How did they help you this semester? What will they continue to do for you in the future?
- Read your Journey Logs and see what your trend was:
- What did you talk about most? Did things change over time? Did you notice a more optimistic, determined, or cynical attitude?
- What did you talk about most? Did things change over time? Did you notice a more optimistic, determined, or cynical attitude?
- Look at your initial thoughts on Minecraft, are they the same feelings as today?
- Do you think you writing, creativity, ways of thinking have improved? Why or why not?
